The Homecoming Service of Camp Meeting will be held at the church tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM, due to the conditions of the campground site with the heavy rains. It has truly been a week of revival at Camp Meeting this week! Last night's service was absolutely amazing as a close to the weekday services of Camp Meeting 2016! Mike and Susan McCracken blessed us with their singing! They sang about the goodness of God, reminding us that God is good all the time! Their music and joy inspired us and got us tapping our toes and praising our Lord! Rev. Thad Carter preached a powerful sermon from John chapter 16. If you read John 16:13, Jesus says, "But when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth..." Thad pointed out that we are a people who dwell on the trivial instead of the truth. He reminded us that Jesus still saves people, and that He wants us to become an example of faith to the community. Thad asked us how long it has been since someone has witnessed to you about Jesus Christ, and how long it has been since you have witnessed to somebody about Christ? The Spirit of God truly moved in yesterday's service! You don't want to miss Sunday's Homecoming Service at the church tomorrow at 11:00 am, followed by Dinner on the [Bethel] Grounds. Thomas Hill will be preaching. Also, don't miss the dedication ceremony of an Official Texas Historical Marker recognizing Bethel UMC and Camp Meeting tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel UMC. See you tomorrow morning at 11:00 am at Bethel!
The Camp Meeting service tonight at 7:30 will be held at the church again rather than at the campground due to the condition of the ground with the heavy rainfall this week. Last night's service was amazing! Max McGee sang "Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone" and it was absolutely beautiful -- the presence of God was strongly felt. The FUMC Carthage Choir was absolutely amazing -- their songs were powerful and the piano playing was moving. They reminded us through their singing that we need to lean on Jesus, and that in our hearts "there rings a melody, rings a melody of love." Dr. Randy Fitzgerald preached the Word -- also reminding us that as the church -- as the Body of Christ -- that "melody of love" is truly important in our world today, and always has been. He gave us some history of camp meetings and revivals. He helped us to remember that when we pray "Our Father, who art in Heaven..." that we need to remember that we are brothers and sisters. Dr. Fitzgerald preached from John chapter six... when we look at this passage we see words such as Jesus saying "...The words I have spoken to you -- they are full of the Spirit and life" (John 6:63). Dr. Fitzgerald called us as the Church to refocus on Christ -- to focus on loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves. You don't want to miss tonight! Thad Carter is preaching, and Mike and Susan McCracken are singing! See you tonight at 7:30 at Bethel UMC!
Friends, the Camp Meeting service at 7:30 tonight will be held at the church again rather the the campground. Last night's service was awesome! Chad Commander boldy preached on our call to abundant life in Christ. He showed us in Romans 6:5-8 and throughout his message that if we truly give our all to Christ, we will truly be set free. The group "Set Free" sang about amazing grace being real in our lives, and what it will one day be like to sit down with our Savior in Heaven. They were wonderful. Joey Spann, a senior at Elysian Fields, inspired us and tied everything together singing "Holy Spirit." As Chad taught us, the Holy Spirit truly empowers us to live fully for God. You don't want to miss tonight! Dr. Randy Fitzgerald will be preaching. FUMC Carthage and Max McGee will be singing. See you tonight, 7:30 at Bethel!
It was another great night at Camp Meeting! The Robertsons brought to us some beautiful music and singing, including the song "Just Be Held." We were reminded tonight of Psalm 46:10, "...'Be still, and know that I am God...'" The Robertsons' witness was strong as they sang to the Lord for us all to enjoy! Rev. Ricky Ricks gave a wonderful message about revival from Matthew 5:14-16. He reminded us, as verse 16 says, to "...let your light shine before others..." Ricky shared with us methods to do just that. He left with us that if we will "let our lights shine," we will see revival, because a candle isn't meant to be put under a bushel basket, as verse 15 tells us, but to be raised up to bring light to everyone. You don't want to miss Wednesday's Camp Meeting service! Chad Commander will be preaching and Set Free will be singing. Due to the heavy rainfall and conditions of the ground at the campground, we will meet at the church again tonight. See you at 7:30 at Bethel UMC!
Just a reminder that with the heavy rains and the ground conditions at the Campground site, the Camp Meeting service will be held at the church tonight. Come out to experience God! 7:30 at Bethel UMC!
It was a great night at Camp Meeting! Mario Parga brought a very joyful and bold message to us based on Matthew 14:30, "...'Lord, save me!'" Are you going through something? Remember the words of Christ to the disciples, when they were frightened as they saw Christ walking on water on his way to them. In verse 27, Jesus tells them, "...'Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.'" The singing by Joseph Ellenburg was amazing, and truly set the stage for a wonderful, powerful evening. You don't want to miss Ricky Ricks preaching and the Robertsons singing on this third night of Camp Meeting! Once again, with the heavy rains, we will meet in the church instead of the campground. See you at Bethel UMC at 7:30!
Notice...
Due to the condition of the ground with the heavy rain, the Camp Meeting service will be moved to Bethel United Methodist Church tonight. Come and see what God has in store! 7:30 at Bethel!
It was a great night at Camp Meeting tonight! Ken Archer got us started with powerful preaching on God's promises, fellowship, communion with God and one another, the stories of Jesus, and singing praises to God. He raised up the Lord's name as the Great Welcomer! The Commander family brought powerful music and song to us as they shared their faith through their song and testimonies. One song the Commanders sang said "Stand still, and let God move... Standing still is hard to do... when you feel you have reached the end, He'll make a way for you!" We were reminded tonight that when we reach out for the Lord we are never unnoticed! This is going to be an awesome week! You don't want to miss tomorrow night... Bethel Campground at 7:30, with Mario Parga of Greggton UMC preaching, and Joseph Ellenburg singing!
Greetings in His name! Don’t forget the change this Sunday. We will be welcoming our new Pastor, Bro. Terry Cashion! Bro. Terry “officially” begins his tenure at Bethel the first Sunday in July, but he has graciously agreed to start a little early…this Sunday to be exact! Bro. Terry is also the Pastor of Mt. Zion UMC, so a slight alteration in schedules will be necessary. Beginning this Sunday (June 5th , our regular worship service will begin at 9:45am. Also changed is our Sunday School schedule…Sunday School will begin at 9:00am. Our Lord certainly didn’t complain when He hung on that cross for us, so let’s show our dedication to Him by being there with happy and grateful hearts! Join us for Bro. Terry’s first Sunday with us as we worship and partake in Holy Communion together, and show him our true spirit at Bethel! See you there!! May His peace be with you and yours…
